Jake began his nautical career in high school as a deckhand on a passenger ferry service and ultimately worked his way to Captain while in college. After graduating law school, he practiced law in the area of insurance defense litigation. Turning his eye back to the sea, while practicing law he obtained a Master’s degree in International Transportation Management from SUNY Maritime College.

Prior to founding MCC, Jake worked in commercial ship operations for Stolt Tankers and Maersk Tankers before becoming the head of claims for a chemical tanker brokerage where he oversaw the management and settlement of $270+ million in demurrage claims.

Jake is a member of the Maritime Law Association and has 18+ years of experience in law, shipping and claims. He prides himself on upholding the highest standards of trust and integrity for his clients.
